Idiot Question - Tags and Converting WMA to FLAC

I am testing out dBpoweramp and so far, it's great. I'm loving it, as they say.

I've got a bit of a problem, though. I am trying to convert fully "tagged up" WMA Lossless files to FLAC, and can't work out how to preserve the tags. I've got the hand of getting the directory structure to replicate itself, but all the converted files have no tags at all. There must be something simple and obvious that I'm not doing, but despite hours of re-trys. I've tried the help file and searched the forums, but I am still none the wiser (probably through my own incompetence). Any help would be most appreciated, so thanks in advance.

Hello, Mr. Spoon. Thank you for coming back so soon. Yes, right click brings up a full list of ID-Tags, including embedded album art and "replygains" from the original rip. In fact, there's info there I'd not been aware was recorded, such as the release label. Cool. But how do I ...?

And on your converted FLAC file, right click >> Edit ID Tags, what is shown?

It says "<contains no ID-Tags>". All the fields are blank. The display panel at the bottom of Windows Explorer shows the file name, size and embedded album art but nothing else.

Re: Idiot Question - Tags and Converting WMA to FLAC

Good evening, Mr. Spoon. It was, I think, all my fault.

I tried a conversion to MP3: all the tags made it. Ditto when I tried Apple. Looking at the ID3-Tag editing settings in DSP, I'd ticked all the boxes, assuming that was necessary to copy them I realise now from the MP3 settings that the only one that needs ticking relates to album art. Having re-tried a FLC conversion with only album art ticked, I have my tags.

              Sorry for taking your time.

              All the best from London,

              Nic (Mr.T)

You do not need any DSP effect to transfer the ID Tags, as they are transferred by default.

I see that now: my fault for fiddling with the settings before properly understanding the software: my fault for not reading the help files properly. Thanks again for your time. I shall be upgrading myself to a full licence over the weekend. Best wishes from London.
