Upgraded to 14.3...Converter now "chipmunks" the song...

Recently upgraded to Windows 8 on my laptop.

Updated all my Windows drivers, and then upgraded my DB Poweramp Music Converter to 14.3 and Effects 8.

Now, whenever I convert a song, it completely messes with the song, making it faster, and high pitched, like a 'chipmunks' cover of the song.

This happens for 1 song or an entire album. Mainly what I convert is .flac to .alac.

I cannot get a regular convert anymore.

No errors are reported. And the output files appear to be the correct size.

Any reason for this? Or is there a driver upgrade I am missing?

    Thank you!

      FLAC to ALAC

      Original: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lau9gyrzab...at%20Door.flac

      Converted File: https://www.dropbox.com/s/y65snstatv...hat%20Door.m4a

Double checked that FLAC was not corrupted/incomplete. Also checked "verify audio" in the DMC box.

Verified all computer drivers are up to date, and running the latest version of DMC(14.3). Also verified that I didn't have two versions simultaneously installed.

      Help, Spoon!

        Also: Uninstalled and Reinstalled program.

        Still no difference.

Both files play fine on my Windows 7 set up using Foobar 2000. It's not the conversion.

I did not think it would be the conversion, as lossless to lossless just always works

What is OP playing back on? It wouldn't happen to be a squeezebox Touch with some sort of hacks (TT3.0, etc..)?

                Fixed!

                @garym

Can't believe I was only trying one media player.

Was using VLC(my default catch-all player) to listen after they were converted. Apparently it is a problem with VLC Player. My player is updated to the latest, so maybe they are currently having a bug with playing ALAC.

                Opened iTunes, file works fine.

Thank you for all your suggestions!

Heh. My experience with VLC is that is incredibly featureful and not well tested. Whenever I run into a problem playing a sound or A/V file with it, I always check with another player and usually the issue turns out to be VLC and not the media file.
