    Naming Conventions

I see that DBPA meta data sources are using the convention [atist name], [determiner, if any].
For example, for "The Beatles", artist name will be "Beatles, The".

    1) What naming conventions do you use? Pros and cons?

    2) As for classical music, do you use the composer name or the performer name as for the artist name?
    Example:
    - Composer: Ludwig Van Beethoven
    - Performer: Claudio Abbado

Should be: Artist Name = Claudio Abbado, however would be more natural to seek for Beethoven, when searching....

Depends if your player supports the sort tags, ie:

    Composer: Ludwig Van Beethoven
    ComposerSort: Beethoven, Ludwig Van

      Re: Naming Conventions

Both players on my PC and smartphone use extended tagging and naming handling, however I wonder why the META sources accessed by DBPA are using the SORTNAME scheme also for the ARTISTNAME tag....
Is this a typical convention? If so can someone explain why?
I mean if the SORTNAME is already set to "Beatles, The" why should the ARTISTNAME be set to in such a way instead of "The Beatles"???

You do not need to change ARTIST if the player is supporting sort tags, not all players do.
