I'd like a way to display (and export to a text file) all tags in a FLAC file, preferrably with their original tag names (i.e., without "Description" being converted to "Comment"), much like what can be done in Linux with "ogg123 -d null filename.flac" or "metaflac --list --block-type=VORBIS_COMMENT filename.flac". dMC 14.3 provides several mechanisms to view tags, but none of them do exactly what I want:
- The Popup Info Tips do not show all tags (e.g., no PERFORMER or STYLE) and provides no means to export what is displayed.
- The Edit ID-Tag right-click dialog shows all tags but provides no means to export values. And it is not possible to manually cut-and-paste all tags at once -- can only do one tag at a time, and only the value (not the tag name).
- The Thumbnail and Property Handler (the area at the bottom of an Explorer window) doesn't show any tags for FLAC files (on Windows 7, anyway), and (even for MP3 files) there is no means to export values (again, cut-and-paste works only on values, one at a time).
- The Audio Properties tab on the Properties dialog does not show all tags (e.g., no COMMENT, PERFORMER, or STYLE), but it does provide a Copy to Clipboard option. However, this copies only the (incomplete) information shown on that tab (and there is no delimiter (e.g., "=" or ": ") separating the tag name from the value, which makes it difficult for a program or script to process that information).
- The ID-Tag tab on the Properties dialog appears to be a somewhat smaller version of the Edit ID-Tag right-click dialog (with the same limitations).
- The Windows 7 Explorer can be customized to display 287 different Audio columns, but neither Performer, Style (FLAC), nor ContentGroup (MP3) are available (others are probably missing as well).
The only way that I have found to view ALL information and tags for a FLAC file (in one dialog box with no scroll bars) is to select the file and hit the Delete key. This brings up a dBpoweramp Delete File dialog that shows everything, but there is no means to export this data (one can't even cut-and-paste the text in this window), and having to press Delete to get this information seems dangerous. It would be great if there were a right-click menu option (or some other mechanism that did not involve hitting the Delete key) to bring up this same information display, but with a "Copy to Clipboard" or "Write to File" button.
