    Using the Trim DSP effect

I have some MP3 files that are captured audio streams. For some reason the program that I used to perform the capture on my PC put an audible (and annoying) "click" at the beginning of each file.

I thought I would try the "Trim" effect to shave about 1/4 of a second from the beginning of each file, but it doesn't seem to work. That is, if I trim, for instance, 250 MS, the resulting file is identical to the source. I tried trimming 10 seconds just to be sure.

I'm thinking I need to actually "convert" the file, is that right? That is, from MP3 to MP3. Right now, I am simply selecting "Converting to: [ID Tag Update]" and then adding the "Trim" DSP effect. Will that not work? I was trying to avoid an actual conversion in order to maintain the audio quality.

    Many thanks,

    - Mark

OK, am I correct that there's no way of doing that without some loss of audio quality (however arguably insignificant)?

There might be other programs which can lossless trim mp3 files without re-encoding.

If I could revisit this briefly - if I use the trim DSP on a flac or ALAC file, I assume there's no loss of quality?

Lossless to Lossless has no loss of quality
