    Windows 8 and dMC

I just downloaded the trial of dMC for Windows 8, though it seems I have encountered a problem.

For a time, I was running a hackintosh. Windows 8 intrigued me because I was a huge Windows 7 person before trying out hackintosh, but what made me switch was Storage Spaces (which is great, you should check it out). Back story aside, I converted all my FLAC files to ALAC. Now, I am trying to convert to WMA Lossless so it's compatible with WMP but every time I attempt to, it errors out. Sometimes one song (randomly chosen) does convert, but then it fails verification. Here are the errors:

    Code:
    Error converting to Windows Media Audio 10, 'D:\My Music\Old\Three Days Grace\One-X\01 It's All Over.m4a' to 'D:\My Music\Three Days Grace\One-X.wma'

The files do not have the Read Only attribute set, permissions are correctly set for the volume as well.

The D:\ volume is on a Storage Space in a Pool however and maybe dbPowerAmp is getting confused by it? I am unsure. Thank you for your support and what seems to be an excellent program!

    Re: Windows 8 and dMC

More information. It seems that dMC is particularly having issue with my ALAC files. I found an album I still had in FLAC and it converted correctly. It was on the same volume so it seems like it rules out permissions and Storage Spaces. For some odd reason there is something about these ALACs that dMC is not happy about, but I cannot fathom why.

Actually, you may close this thread. It seems like Windows 8 does not have a built in ALAC decoder (though it can decode lossy AAC). It was an oversight on my part. Installed ffdshow tryouts and configured the AAC decoder and all is good.

          It is the standard dBpoweramp.

There's no version of dBpoweramp specific for Windows 8. However, the 14.3 beta can be found here.

It should be installed on top of your registered version.
