DMCScripting error on Windows 7 64-bit computer

We have been using the DMCScripting process to convert various audio files to MP3 files for several years and it has been working very well. Some of our users have updated to Windows 7 64 bit computers and are installing Version 14 with mixed success. In some cases we get the “-2147024703 Not a Valid Win32 application” when we try to create the object . After some digging we found that we have may have one of 3 different DMCScripting.DLL’s installed during the process. The first is Version 14.2.0.2 at 574k which does not work, the second is Version 14.2.0.2 at 374k which does work and the third looks like a leftover when upgrading from version 12 to 14 which leaves version 12.0.1.2 at 228k on the system.

If we replace the Version 14.2.0.2 574k DLL with either the Version 14.2.0.2 374k DLL or the Version 12.0.1.2 DLL the problem goes away and the files are converted to MP3’s.

The problem has been limited to Windows 7 64-bit computers and we were wondering if there is something we need to do during the installation?

The 374KB dll is a 32 bit dll, the 574KB dll is a 64 bit DLL. On windows 64 bit the 64 bit dll is installed, any scripting should be done from a 64 bit application otherwise it will not work.

Re: DMCScripting error on Windows 7 64-bit computer

Thanks, that explains a lot. The issues is this application is part of our larger software suite and is used by a number of sites across the US and Canada running everything from Windows 2000 to Windows-7 and Windows Server systems. We have written all of our software in 32-bit which will runs well on both 32 and 64 bit computers and on all Windows Operating Systems. The conversion to MP3&*8217;s is part of a larger process and is not used by everyone. However it is very convenient for those that do and DBPowerAmp has been a great fit so we have been recommending DBPowerAmp to our clients. Since we do not have any control over the installation process, is there a simple way to get the 32-bit driver installed on a 64-bit computer?

You would have to manually replace the DLL, and register it with regsvr.exe
