    Problem encoding mp3 lame

I recently started dbpoweramp to encode some songs for the first time in at least a month or so, and if it matters, it said that the powerpack had expired (I dont know if this has anything to do with the problem). I clicked the mp3 lame button which took me to the screen where I clicked all of the settings and whatnot, but when I went to encode, it popped up with an error saying "The CODEC required to compress 'C:\Converted Music\Queens Of The Stone Age\Queens Of The Stone Age\01 - Regular John.mp3.TEMP.mp3' could not be opened." for every track. How can I fix this problem?

You have a combination of mp3 settings that do not work, try different settings.

well, I have it set to alt preset extreme (and the bar displays the minimum as 1287 and the mzx as 224), and the set bits box (I dont know what this does) has original checked, and thats all thats checked in the advanced menu. Then preserve ide tags, volume normalization, and delete source files are all unchecked. I dont know what the set bits box does, but I'm guessing its the source of the problem.

The above post was mine, I guess I forgot to log in.

I just saw the box that is under the bitrate bar and realized that it was at 8000 somehow. I dont remember which of these options I choose, but I remember that 8000 isnt it. What should I fill in here (and also, what should I fill in the set bits box)?

You might want to set your bitrate around 192 kb/second which generally is considered to be cd quality although many people seem to use 128 kb/sec. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I encoded the two cds I was encoding to 192, and I have ripped around 18 cds to my hard drive to encode to 192 over night (to get better battery life on my ipod).

I am sort of a quality nut, so if it doesnt work out, Ill change it back. Im usually not far from home for very long anyway, but Im sure 192 will be fine.

You are best making sure you have the latest dMC Beta (from Beta section) for Lame Presets.
