Missing metadata form Flac to AIFF conversion

Several months ago, we did a large batch conversion of FLAC to AIFF using dbpoweramp. Unfortunately, all metadata fields are empty for the converted files when examined by dbpoweramp.
However, if the converted files are loaned into intunes, metadata is
present. How can I get dbpoweramp to find/recognize the metadata for these converted AIFF files?
    Thanks.

It suggests that dBpoweramp is missing the AIFF decoder, try reinstalling it.

Spoon..i tried unistallling and reinstalling the program. I still have the same issue. The
AIFF codecs are properly loaded. It appears that dbpoweramp isnt reading the headers
      properly. Any other suggestions?

Re: Missing metadata form Flac to AIFF conversion

This morning, I booted into mac osx, and loaded Soundgrinder. I was able to take the AIFF files mentioned above, convert them to flac, and
see the complete metadata from the file conversion. When I tried to do the same thing in dbpoweramp, the metadata is missing.
On a separate note, in dbpoweramp configuration, advanced options, codecs tab, i noticed that there is no mention of AIFF files under ID Tagging.
I believe that the AIFF tagging is missing from my program. This persisted after I reinstalled the program. I am sure that this is a very quick fix.
        Your help is much appreciated.

If you right click on a FLAC file >> Edit ID Tags, does it show the ID Tags for FLAC?

also try this, take an AIFF file, which has no tags, right click >> Edit ID Tags, add a new tag such as Artist, click ok, does the tag value get written?

The answer is no to questions one and two. Metadata doesn't show up under edit ID tags. And, if I try to edit the file by adding the artist name, it doesn't save (after clicking on apply, then OK).

Try as a test disabling your security software, it might be blocking dBpoweramp.

I am not using any third party security software. This is a dedicated music server. Windows defender was not operational at the time of your last message

Re: Missing metadata form Flac to AIFF conversion

If I convert an AIFF files to Flac, I can Edit ID tags, and the tags are saved. This will not work with the original AIFF files themselves. I have a large number of CDs that have been converted to from FLAC to AIFF, where the original Flac files have been deleted from my NAS. Per the above, I need to be able to access the meta data in the AIFF files in order for them to be properly categorized by Asset Control. Given that I can edit and save Flac, but not AIFF, the problem clearly lies on the AIFF side of things.

Are the files held remotely on a NAS? try copying a AIFF file to your PC and edit the ID Tags manually.

Spoon, I did the two file conversions mentioned above on my NAS. The AIFF>FLAC coverted files could be edited, where as the FLAC files could not be.
I will attempt to edit the FLAC files locally.

Re: Missing metadata form Flac to AIFF conversion

I just copied an AIFF file from my NAS to my desktop. I was unable to ID edit the AIFF file. Hence, the location of the file (NAS or local) appears not to be the issue.
However, when I converted the AIFF file to FLAC on my desktop, I was able to modify in ID edit (remember that all metadata is missing).
                        Thanks

                          You have reinstalled this?:

if that fails, run the dBpoweramp settings Clear:

...also how to do a full reset of dBpoweramp? (if dBpoweramp crashes for some reason) Where does dBpoweramp save its files / settings? It is installed to c:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp or c:\Program Files (x86)\Illustrate\dBpoweramp The 64 bit version of dBpoweramp is installed to: c:\Program Files\dBpoweramp It

                          Then reinstall dBpoweramp + AIFF

Open dBpoweramp Configuration >> Music Converter >>

enable the debug option. Convert one mp3 file if you have one, which contains ID Tags to AIFF please, then copy and paste the debug log which is shown at the end.
