    getPopupInfo and Comodo activity

I doubt this is a bug/problem in dMC, but I'm hoping this is the best place to get some help/info...

I'm getting Comodo alerts on GetPopupInfo.exe, which made me notice that there are many entries in my Comodo Defense+ Log warning that GetPop... is trying to modify a registry key (HKUS\DEFAULT\Control Panel\International). These log entries started in early October (2 months ago), at which point Comodo "sandboxed" GetPopupInfo. I can't remember what was happening 4 months ago, whether I manually clicked the sandbox button, etc.

I trust dMC and am happy to just unsandbox it and hope that gets rid of the messages, but in investifating this I've noticed that maybe GetPopupInfo is not doing what it's supposed to. It should be showing me a popup window when I mouse over a music file in Win Explorer, right? I've checked the appropriate box in Folder Options, but still no popup (or anything) when I mouse over a simple mp3 file.

    Any ideas?

thanks for any help you can provide...

We do not use that registry path, but perhaps you have a dBpoweramp directshow codec installed and one of the directshow codecs is writing it.

Spoon - thanks for your reply. I actually wasn't *too* worried that something nasty was happening to my registry (and I suspect that you're right that it's a directshow/codec issue), but my main question was what GetP.Info was supposed to be doing, and what it meant that for me, nothing seems to happen when I mouse over an mp3 file.

When you mouse over a file, Windows loads the dBpoweramp dll, which then calls getpopup.exe (it is out of process of explorer, so if a corrupted file managed to crash dbpoweramps codecs, it would not bring down windows explorer), getpopup loads all the codec dlls to find the one which handles the audio file.
