Rm -> Mp3

Hi!
I trie to convert some rm files to mp3. suddenly my computer hangs up, even the mouse doesnt react. after pressing reset, my computer doesnt boot anymore and i need to clear the cmos!!.
thx for answers

No program should be able to do anything to the cmos, sounds like a hardware problem on the PC.
