Convert FLAC -> MP3: File Name length limit

Hi
I have converted my FLAC library to MP3s with batch converter. I noticed that the filenames of the mp3's get trunctuated at 35 characters. Is this a limitation of music converter of FLAC or LAME?

The only limit is 260 characters for the whole path + filename.

I have done another conversion from scratch and the file names are now ok. I believe that iTunes may have trunctuated the file names when indexing the files. It has some really nasty habits.
