down convert flac 192/24 to 96kHz/24bit

    Hello

want to purchase some albums from HDtracks and I can get 192kHz/24bit or 96kHz/24bit. my current playback cant play 192 but would make sense to pay for the highest level and downconvert to 96/24 and use this until i can upgrade.

SO can I convert 192kHz/24bit flac to 96kHz/24bit flac? or even to std CD flac?

Yes, use the DSP effect 'Resample' whilst converting.

      Thanks spoon

although now im wondering how the resample algorithm works and if it would be same result as the 96/24 version from hd tracks which I assume is interconverted or created using some kind of high end device - maybe I would be surprised. Not that I have any complaint about the converter - i love it... just... I assume its some sort of resampling filter and sometimes these can be ordinary

dBpoweramp uses SSRC which is regarded as being one of the best.

The DSP resample does the job of changing the sample rate, but can one also change the Sample Size? I'd like to convert 96kHz/24bit Flac to 44.1kHz/16bit.

I know that this is not what you asked for, but there are media players that can perform such conversions on-the-fly while playing.

I have a similar problem. I have high resolution files in Flac. I have converted them to Apple Lossless, but my Ipod cannot cope with these files. I beleive I need to go down to 16/44?

To do that I tried to first convert Flac to WAV (where I could set the resolution), this worked st expected. But when conevrting WAV to Lossles I got HUUUUGE files, one song 150 MB.

Do I understand correctly if I perhaps should convert directly from 24/96 to Lossless but use DSP effect Bit Depth. Is it the bit depth or sampling freq that is my problem with the apple stuff?

Yes you need Bit Depth DSP set to 16 bit and Resample DSP set to 44KHz

I have a quick question related to this thread. On the src comparison site (http://src.infinitewave.ca/) , it states that there are two versions of ssrc, "SSRC" and "SSRC high precision". Which version does dbpoweramp use?
                    Thank you.

I am guessing that high precision is the floating point bit depth, in which case we use doubles which are high precision.
