Bit Rate Discrepancy

I just converted a flac file to alac. My question is: why does it say the bitrate is 1,411 kpbs when I'm looking at its properties outside of iTunes, but 970 kbps when I'm looking at it from within iTunes?

1411 is the uncompressed bit rate (CD quality), the other one show the bitrate when compressed, so an ALAC file can have both.
