    conversion issue

    Hi,
I'm trying to convert mp3 files to m4A using poweramp. However, when I convert a song, the new m4A file doesn't play. This is due to the fact that the converted file is 0KB, even though the poweramp says the file is converted...can someone help with this?

    thanks

Can you convert anything to m4a? Did you install the Nero encoder?

      Re: conversion issue

I think I installed the NERO encoder. The first time I tried to select the m4a encoder, it wouldn't let me select that option until I downloaded a NERO program. So I downloaded it and ran it and was able to select the m4A encoding option. Now, when I open up windows explorer, then right click on a file to convert it, a window comes up BEFORE the dbpoweramp opens and says, "Before using this encoder a separate component must first be installed from www.nerodigital.com"...then the encoder opens. is there a second nero file I need to download?

No 2nd component, the first nero component is not installed to the right location. Re follow the instructions in the m4a help file of how to install.

I read the instructions and frankly, they are a bit tough for a layman to understand. Now i'm even more confused. I downloaded more NERO files and found the AAC encoder, but it's a command prompt program. That's going to be a pain in the butt to convert dozens of files. this has to be easier. Spoon, you said I installed files to the wrong location and I don't see where it says to install them...where should they go?

            Re: conversion issue

The command line program 'neroaacenc.exe' (and the others in the zip file) have to be placed in:

            C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp\encoder\m4a Nero (AAC)\

Then you can use dbpoweramp as you are doing so to convert.
