Convert .asx file to wave/mp3

How do I convert a .asx file. I tried the recommendation to rename to .wma and convert but get the following error message:

CODEC decompression error for 'C:\Music\Peter Cetera - Forever Tonight.wma'

I have downloaded the Windows Media 9.0 codec.

Da Man it seems to work fine now. I just restarted my computer.
