    duplicate files/alac

I'm converting flac to alac using the batch converter

At several points, have been prompted that certain files already exist and asked whether to overwrite. I reply "no" since I believe that duplicate files are needed.

Will dbpower amp as a result convert and yield duplicate files?

I need them I believe in album sets of an artist for whom I also have the individual album (eg Miles Davis Prestige box set and the individual albums made ove the years)

Depending on the naming used it is possible to have 2 files using the same filename, it is likely these files are the same so clicking no is correct (you end up with just the one file).

is there a way to get both files with the same name converted and written to my hard drive?

If you select one of the duplicate files (before you press no) click F2 to rename it and give it a different name.

Further to my last message--of about 7000 tracks in the current batch I'm converting there were about 200 duplicates that i clicked "don't overwrite"

I suspect these are not duplicates, just the same song in a very large library

              Re: duplicate files/alac

              Did as you suggested

              re-named 18 files of 2968 to be converted after selecting/pressing F2

              (for example--renamed D-01 Solitude to D-01 dsSolitude)

After clicking do not overwrite, process began but I see that it is converting only 2950 files

              Any suggestions?

I re-named the files as indicated above, clicked do not overwrite and they did not convert to apple lossless

                any suggestions?

You would click yes to overwrite (as now you have renamed them, only yes will write the file).

                    Thanks, i will try that

A friend of mine told me that there's a script to resolve this problem that you input in cd ripper

would you have the script and instructions how to do it?

Not sure to which script your friend is referring to.

Your solution appears to be working out just fine; thanks

Will send you the script when I get it, as this seems to be a common issue with large music collections
