mp3 to wav problem

I am able to convert to all formats except wav.files.
the sound quality on the wav.files is very jittery.The mp3's play ok and the alternate conversions(wma etc) play ok.
I have un installed and re-installed but it is just the same.Is there a problem with XP as I have the programme on another pc running windows 98 and everything is ok,or am I missing some necesary files somewhere or perhaps some settings in Xp need adjusted.Any help is much appreciated.

Make sure your wave settings are sufficient quality (press the 'To CD Quality' button.

Tried it but no difference,any other suggestions much appreciated

It might be your wave player, try convert to wave, then convert back to mp3 and play the mp3.
