Corrections for cover art, how to proceed

Collection is maintained in ITunes, with scans of cover art embedded in the ALAC, AAC and AIFF files. The size varies from small (200px) to large (2000px). I'd like to correct this to an uniform size (500px). What's the best way to do this? Can I use the ID Processing DSP for this _without_ converting the music file and _without_ upscaling images < 500px?

There is the [ID Tag Processing] utility codec (from Codec Central), test on a few files first.
