I have a few mp3 songs that, when run through the Replaygain codec, results in peak gains like 400dB or 2800dB. The flac version of these songs, when run through the same way, does not show a problem (peak gain around 1).
As an example, I tried to address the issue with two songs today. The mp3 was originally created from the flac version of the song. I tried the following the correct the error:
- reran RG codec (same error)
- reconverted the FLAC file into an mp3 version, then reran RG coded (same error)
- used Foobar to create RG tags (fixed the probelm)
I have probably 20 or so albums out of 1200 that have crazy RG peak values. Using Foobar on each resulted in reasonable peak values.
Something is off in the RG codec. I can send a few files if you want.
