Problem with dMC converting to UTF 16

I don't know why but just recently when I convert a music file it converts the unicode from ANSI to UTF 16. I have no idea what's going on, and my Windows Media Player doesn't recognize UTF 16. Hopefully, somebody can help...thanks

I was converting an mp3 file to another bit rate, but now that I think of it, the problem occurred after I edited the tag - that's when it changed from ANSI to UTF 16. Hope that helps...Karl

dBpoweramp Configuration >> Codecs >> Advanced

Here you can switch off Unicode for id3v2

Welp, I went to dBpoweramp configuration>Codecs>Advanced options and changed ID3 Text encoding to ANSI(it was set on Unicode 16) but it didn't make a difference. I didn't see any way to shut off the encoding only change it.

This is used when creating new ID Tags, if you hold the mouse over a mp3 file dBpoweramp will show what type of encoding is used internally.

Make sure dBpoweramp is set to write ID3v2 tags.

OK, I just converted some mp3 files and put them in my Windows Media Library. It read 4 of the 15 files. The ones it read contained this "ID Tag [ID3v2.3 (ANSI) & ID3v1.1" . The ones it didn't read had this "ID Tag [ID3v2.3 (ANSI)"

Ok, It looks like I may have found a solution. I went back to dBpoweramp configuration>Codecs>Advanced and changed the tag creation tag to ID3v2 & ID3v1 and it's working...Windows Media Player recognizes the file !! Thanks for all your help

There is something wrong with your WMP as it should read id3v2.3 ansi tags without any problems, which version is it?

It is version 11.0.6002.18111. I checked for updates , and it says I'm running the most recent version.
