Album Art and File Size

Hello, if I add a cover into the file/metadata and later remove it, the file doesn't change filesize. So if I select by accident a 1.5 mb JPG and later like to replace it with a 200kb the .flac file keeps the filesize with the 1.5mb JPG.

Is there an option to "defrag" or really release this filespace?

BTW: I use Edit ID-Tag in the folder to remove or add JPG files.
