    one channel only

I am using teh dmc aux.imput, trying to record lps. I only have one channel instead of two. When I reverse cable connections to my reciever the channel loss reverses. But the cable works fine on a portable cd player. Is it the cables or a setting I'm overlooking? Please help, thanks in advance...

To record in stereo your link to your hi-fi needs to be plugged into a stereo line-input on your computer.
If you plug into your computer's microphone input you will not get stereo. If your computer's sound card does not have a stereo line-input you will not get both tracks.
If you use the wrong connector cable (one that does not provide stereo signals) you will also not get two tracks.
So your first check should be to check what input you are using on your computer and what inputs are available on your sound card.
    Hope this helps.
