R14 says configured for AR but doesn't work

I'm a long-time dbpa user. All is fine on my end. I convinced a friend to use dbpa on his windows xp machine to begin a major disc ripping project. He bought reference r14. I helped him install. First disc we put in was recognized and AR was setup. Made a few other settings regarding secure ripping, etc. and tried to rip a few discs.

Here's the problem. He puts in a disc. Screen shows that the disc is in AR. Metadata automatically appears. Then the ripping starts. First the "in AR" disappears at bottom of screen. Then the ripping shows an X for each track next to AR, then goes into ultra secure ripping, then finds each track insecure. The CRCs stay BLANK after the ripping. This seemed odd to me. We've tried 4 discs, with all the same results.

Note that I can take each of these same discs to my own machine, insert into dbpa, and they are all recognized as AR, rip once and all match to AR just fine. The CRCs do show up in the CRC column.

Any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong. Did a reinstall of his dbpa, but same problem. How can I clear the cache/install info so that it detects AR with a disc all over again (from the beginning?)

    Thanks.

seems that it was the C2 support. Not checking "use C2" allowed the ripper to use AR info and rip with matches. Must have been a drive that caused problems with C2.

Gary, what is the exact model of drive you have? How is it connected to the system?

it was my friend's system and he's out of the country for a few weeks. It was an internal DVD R/W on a 2 or 3 year old Dell laptop. And he did buy the Reference R14 version. I'll get the info on his return and post here.

(note, on my own, newer Dell laptop, I'm using internal "TSST - DVD_RW TS-U633F" and it works fine with "use C2" checked). His drive was NOT the same as mine, I do recall that.
