Anyone experiened this? While PowerAmp is converting to .rm media it crashes the entire system. Locks up hard, only a hard re-boot will bring it back and then there are 0kb size files

I'm running converter here just fine on WinXP Pro.
I just batch re-encoded over 500 songs to put on my portable MP3 player and everything went as smooth as silk.
Do you use dMC File Selector ? Because I think there is a limitation on Windows on how many files you can apply a right-click action to. So, use dMC File Selector and it's perfectComment

If something is locking up XP then it will be more to do with a hardware problem (ie CPU overheating), put it this way I couldn't lockup windows XP even if I wanted to...Comment

Re: PowerAmp Freezes computer while converting
I am having the same freezing problem. I can rip DVDs . convert them.. run intensive CPU games, etc... but ripping is causing my computer to hard lock every 2~5 cds. I am fairly certain that this is not a hardware problem. I have paranoia setting on for things such as CPU temp, (never above 50c), with an extremely well ventilated case so I know overheating is not a factor.
These problems did seem to go away when I set my cd options to the Win XP (limited, though I do not really know what this setting does.

I am using XP sp 2. Should the drives need special drivers? I was under the impression that the only drivers out there for XP were the XP drivers...

Re: PowerAmp Freezes computer while converting
Oh, all those are up to date. I check those almost daily. I am one of the most paranoid computer users there is about updates, cooling, maintenance.. etc.. I have just installed the beta and it seems to work okay. Seems the CD settings have changed now where my only options are the Windows limited or SCSI (which I do not have) Can you explain what this setting does?

Re: PowerAmp Freezes computer while converting
Those are the CD communication settings. You can use the SCSI setting, this is the same as the older "2000/NT communication set" you use previously. The Windows limited was "2000/NT Built-In (Limited)".
Can you check to see if it still crashes?
Also, other things in your computer could be overheating such as your northbridge or your voltages could be dropping under heavy load.Comment

Re: PowerAmp Freezes computer while converting
Hmmm.. paranoia never reached checking my Northbridge temp.. My temperature program does show "system" running a bit warm.. new fan on the way... I don't show any voltage drops however. I am waiting for a cd resurfacer to arrive so testing will have to wait until I have resurfaced some of my older CD and recieved some of the new ones I ordered.
