    powerpack help needed

To be fair i bought it not sure why.
More kind of giving support to a nice person making so good programs.

But - i know i'am a slow mind kind of- i found out all the DSP effects.
And i can tell you that ONLY with normalize no matter how long the song ,you get a real real bargain.

    Now few questions:

    - i understand that the only way to apply DSP effect to already converted tracks i to convert them again with the DSP effects i want to apply.

In this case ,there is no problem with lossing quality?
If i want to apply DSP on a Lame VRB 192 song NOT converted with dAMPMC ,it is ok ?

There is a way to set to convert at the original format and to select few thousands Lame CBR - Lame ABR - Lame VRB 192 and Lame 128- and OGG6 and convert all of it with 'remove silence' on ?
Or i have to do it format by format ?

I see i can set PowerPack to run another task after convertion.
Can it be another convertion ? If yes how i set it?

    I convert to APE.
From here i convert to OGG - the format i like and keep on my computer-
And to Lame 192 ABR- to make mp3cds for me and family.

Can i set PowerPack to - after converting APE to OGG to folder X- convert the same APE to Lame ABR 192 in the folder Z ?

 sometimes i start a convertion that i want to stop . I have to click millions times on " cancel' and after to do the same in the pop-up before convertion stops.--Very annoying.

I'am very happy to have buy the PowerPack and will tell friends around me

    All the best - Z'ev

    Where to begin...

You are right converting any lossy format such as ogg or mp3 to any other format will loose quality. The only way to do DSP effects is to convert.

Personally I would not convert 1000s of files just to remove the silence or volume normalize, just find a player that can do those for you when the audio is playing.

I see i can set PowerPack to run another task after convertion.
It will not auto start another conversion.

The cancel is not too good whilst a DSP effect is running.

It will not auto start another conversion
      are you sure spoon?

I did it and put it in the FAQ here on how to rip to more than one type of file: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?threadid=631

I actuall showed you could rip up 2 instances of dmc and start to rip both at the same time. :D

      unless i misunderstood?

          Well , my mistake:
-=-=And i can tell you that ONLY with normalize no matter how long the song ,you get a real real bargain-=-=

Was not what i wanted to say.. but:
TRIM ...........makes PowerPack a real bargain.
          I do not use Normalize.
I'am a JRivers Media Jukebox user and i use the Replay-Gain fonction.

Concerning TRIM ,i need to re-convert the song to trim it ?
If yes ,if i convert to the same format - let say a Lame 192 ABR re-convert to Lame 192 ABR - do i lost that much quality?

          Razgo

The tip you gave is for run dmc like EAC?
you rip your cds one afer one to WAV when ,in the back another instance is converting to the format you want?
When you have finish to rip ,the convertion will works for hours until all converted?

But ,right now , this does not solve my problem-- well it is not really a problem,i agree-
I want to convert to 2 formats -OGG and MP3 - the same songs.
I rip convert the songs first in APE format.

If i put convert to OGG othernight ,it is finish much much before the' overnight time'.

I was looking to a way to set dmc to start a second convertion task when APE to OGG finish.

Anyway ,i cannot ,so no need to speak about it...

To run 2 different programs converting at the same time is to much for my computer-

          LAST question-- well for now..-
There is a way to not get the 'finish message ' but still get the ' play a sound fonction'?

          Thank you

yes dmc can do this if you follow those instrustions carefully.

you can set it to do at the same time or wait for one to finish first then it will auto start another convert.

just read the instructions carefully and give it a go. just test it with a few files so you know you got it right.

it is a little confusing but trust me it will do it, i just like to push dmc to it's limits :D

dmc might not have been purposely designed to do it, but it's full of little surprises on what it can do.

keep in mind too that my instructions may not be clear cut to you. but if you give it a go and then realise how it is done, then you coulod come back with your way of saying the instructions also to help others.

you can rip like this either from cd or from existing files too.

                  Re: powerpack help needed

Hi I'm new and not exactly in the know about this
feature, or for that matter this forum. I can't seem
to start a new thread so I'll post my problem here.

When I go to DSP Effects and try to load the features,
a pop up screen asks me to load a disc in Drive D,
which I don't use because the system doesn't seem
to want to recognize it, even when I before checked
off and on the Table Of Contents, as advised elsewhere
in this forum. I'm getting more confused because I can't
seem to recall, nor now find, how to switch drives again,
and didn't have much luck with this in the first place.
Drive E seems to otherwise work fine, and I've
been finding it works well but this is now
very confusing for a novice like me.

                  What to do???
Any advice would be much appreciated
as I'm otherwise very much enjoying
the use of this system for converting
my cd collection over to MP3 files.

Also, will these features allow me to remove any
possible newly created track space between
live cuts when a concert is being converted
                  over to the MP3 format?

                  Thanx!

                  Davido

Reinstall dBpowerAMP Music Converter to drive c:\program files\illustrate\dbpoweramp

you shouldn't then see any messages about drive d:

                      Hi Spoon!

Hmmmm. I already see it there in
                      c:\program files\illustrate\dbpoweramp.
Do I have to delete it first? I tried
to downlaod it again as a Save File
                      but can't find it anywhere.

try reinstalling dMC. That helps. And if it doesn't, and for some reason, D: is still not recognized, open up your computer and make sure the IDE cable is plugged in securely from your motherboard to your CD drive (Drive D

And if it is plugged in, unplug/replug it. Maybe it was connected for too long.

it may be there, but incomplete or otherwise inproperly installed. Uninstall and reinstal a fresh copy of all the components - or at least the minumumm to get going.

Will reinstalling it delete my "Converted File"
with the 1000 or so tunes I've already ripped
to MP3?!? And will this affect my 30 days trial
                            period?

BTW I really appreciate all the advice!!!!!

It will not affect either. Uninstalling dMC does not wipe converted music nor does it reset the 30 day trial or expire the trial. I'm faily sure it just continues the trial from where you are.
