    convert flac to mp3

    Thanks for the nice welcome!
I am new here and have some questions:
I am trying to convert already existing flac files (approx. 6.100) to mp3(lame)
I selected them all and started the process with the output from my external hard drive directly to my ipod classic 160gb
2 cpu started to work at an encoding speed of 20, during the process, after approx. 1.500 files encoded the encoding speed fell to 13.
In the meantime my computer seemed to take a rest and I had to press the start button again.
I cancelled the job and started it new with the system saying i will take around 1day and 3hours
is there a way to speed it up? or am I doing something wrong
Thanks in advance for any help!

x20 is not uncommon for mp3, it might be the CPU which is overheating and throttling back, certain laptops do this.

      Thks Spoon
Is the speed normal, or is it easier to take the flac copy then to my hard drive on my computer and then convert them to mp3 and then copy them to my ipod?

            Should not make a difference.
