    Dual CPUs Encoding very slowly

I'm using a Lenovo T500 laptop with Dual core Centrino, Vista, 3GB. Ripping from built in DVD / CDRW drive, encoding to flac 5, writing to my ReadyNAS across 100Mbps. dMC ver. 13.3. PC is clean.

Both CPUs count progress much slower than the drive which is ripping at only 15x max. Sometimes the CPUs get stuck and no progress for a time. Ripping a CD is taking 10-20 minutes in secure, or 6-8 minutes in Burst!

My old Dell Pentium 4, 1.5GB RAM single core rips a disc much faster than this, over the same network with dMC 13.

The DVD drive properties does not show any settings for DMA or PIO so I can't verify. Maybe I'll check them in safe mode?

I got the offset check done +102. But dMC can't detect any drive read cache, so it's using "none"

I downloaded the "local rip utility" you mention in the forum for slow ripping to a NAS and installed it, but I don't see any interface to control it or set temp directory so I don't think it's working since nothing changed.

Any ideas what I can try to get the speed up?

    Thanks a lot!

First try ripping to your local machine (My Music) to see if the network is the cause of the slowness.
