    Why use nero M4A?

Why use the Nero m4a codec and not the apple alec one? Are there any benefits? I am converting from FLAC to a lossless that will work in Itunes.
I searched all over this forum and can't find much info on how to do this though I feel as if this is the most common reason to use Dbpower.
Someone must explain how best to do this while keeping the meta data somewhere here right?

Is it because Apple are known for changing software so that others can not use it easily? At least with the Nero m4a codec someone else has done all the hard work?

The nero install is 1 MB, where as iTunes is around 100MB...

The Nero M4A codec is a lossy codec, but actually encodes to real VBR.
Alac as you know is lossless, but converting your alac files with iTunes on the VBR setting isnt true VBR, its constrained (C)VBR.

m4a can contain AAC (lossy) or ALAC (lossless), if you want ALAC we have our own encoder which does not require itunes.

Besides, you can't switch from FLAC to Apple Lossless using iTunes... Simply because, iTunes does not support it. Also, with DMC/Nero's M4A implementation, all metadata is translated according to the MP4/Apple Atoms comments, including binary data such as album art.

By the way, Quicktime reads Nero-encoded MP4s without even complaining. And if you're about to encode to AAC, iTunes plays those files gaplessly, without the ITUNESMPB frame.
