Brief clips added to beginning/end after conversion

I have been converting mp3s down to 128. Intermittently, some of the songs end up having a brief clip of the beginning of the song, then a pause, then the song starts over again. Sometimes there are multiple clips of the beginning before the song plays as it should. Sometimes this happens at the end of the song with an end clip of the song being added. I have been having to go in manually to each of these songs and edit out the brief clip at the beginning or the end.

Is there something that I am doing wrong, or is this a possible bug with the converter?

Do other programs (such as Windows Media Player) have these clips?
