today on an XP machine

Have a wma file "03 Star of Bethlehem.wma", which plays in Windows Media Player

Try to convert to mp3 - get this error

Error converting to mp3 (Lame), 'C:\Documents and Settings\Greg\Desktop\03 Star of Bethlehem.wma' to 'C:\Documents and Settings\Greg\Desktop\03 Star of Bethlehem.mp3'
Error: Unable to load decoder for file type '.wma', codec not installed? visit 'Codec Central'. [dBCoreConverter::dBCoreConverter]


Try a test conversion - get this

Further to my post above, Lame 3.98.2 shown as an installed codec

Even further to my post above, I was able to convert a .wav file to .mp3

Perhaps the .wma is encrypted. Newbie question if so - how do you tell?

Figured it out - didnt have the .wma ?decoder? part installed. DUH.

Anyway, works now. Was ready to rant, throw computer out window, go get a Mac, but this XP laptop will live another day

Thanks. Since then have loaded .mp4 decoder now, so I now officially rock.
