Cant convert flac HD file 24/96

Is there anyway to convert a 24 bit / 48KHz flac file (sorry for the wrong title) to something that'll play on an ipod? I tried to convert the file to wav 16/44.1 but dmc keeps locking up when I try it.

Try converting to Test Conversion, does that complete?

Insert the DSP effects Resample and bit depth and leave everything on the Wave page as [as source]

No, test conversion doesnt work. Its strange, it doesnt crash the program it just keeps calculating the time elepsed and time remaining. I left it alone for a few hours, it reads the encoding speed as 0.0x and the time remaining at 4 days. Please advise.

Perhaps the flac file is corrupted?
