13.2 MP3 Decoder Question - Converting from MP3 to WMA

I have a player that has poor support for formats that are not WMA and so convert from 320kbps MP3 to WMA in 13.2 of poweramp program.

13.3 now has a different decoder than 13.2.

So I ask if there may be reason for needing to convert MP3 files again to WMA because 13.2 was flawed and did not read or decode properly and accurately?

    Thank you

There have been no issues with any decoder from R1 to R12, mp3 decoders are all quite similar, it is the encoders which have large differences.

So the change was not about the decoder quality?

13.2 decoding is as much quality as 13.3 decoding?

If I may please ask you, what was the reason for changing from 13.2 to 13.3?

Was it about DE-coding or EN-coding then?

      Thank you for helping

All codecs are being updated to be streaming compatible from the Internet, there will be many changes to change to what we think are better options, the m4a decoder will get a new aac decoder shortly.

I understand better now I think.

Nothing was wrong in 13.2, but other decoder has more features that are more up to date and preferred by programmers.

          Is that correct?

13.2 was not broken, only slightly limited compared to decoder in 13.3?

Thank you for helping me learn about it

I had seen from the change log where "mp3 decoder switched" but I did not know switched from what to what for reasons so I ask here so I can find out.

I was thinking that 13.2 was broken if it had a decoder that had to be replaced.

Earlier I did not think that you did not have a same code dll for both encoding and for decoding. I thought LAME was for encoding all MP3 and LAME was also for decoding all MP3. I think I know now that it is not required to have the same and that may give more flexibility.

There is much to learn. Thank you for helping
