How do you convert WAVE to CD audio when it is not an option offered?

Have bought the programme to do this specific conversion!!!!!

Any help gratefully received

CD audio is normal wave (PCM, 44.1 kHz, 16 bit, 2 channel stereo) with .cda files added to provide information regarding track order and track length.

What you are specifically looking for is a CD burning program as the .cda files have no meaning outside of the CD itself (if you copy a .cda file to your hard drive and try to play it, it won't work).

If you already have a CD burning program, any such program will do the conversion you are looking for. This includes dBpoweramp CD Writer (which is included in the dBpoweramp Music Converter Reference (although it is a separate download).

If you are trying a trial version of dBpoweramp Music Converter then you can also use CD Writer on a trial basis also.

PS - If your wav files are NOT standard wave, then you may wneed to convert them to standard wave before burning. dBpoweramp Music Converter will do this if you are using a different CD burning program. If you don't have a CD burning program then dB CD Writer will work alongside dB Music Converter to enable you to do this conversion as you are creating your CD for burning.

Hello,

Thank you so much I really do not understand how to do these things but am learning!

I will try the free trial of CD writer as I have bought to conversion programme, it is possible it is not normal WAVE as the conversion programme offered me the chance to convert to WAVE, which totally confused me!

Thanks again I need to get this into the car so I can practice singing my part before I get asked to leave the choir!

Hi,

It is me again. I downloaded the trial and it has converted the files but does not read my cd. Usually I use windows media player and that burs to the CD's. They are Verbatim CD-R and have 700mb capacity. I have had them a year as they came with the new computer. Shops have now closed so will have to wait to buy some more, could you be very kind and explain what I need? I did format the disc, is that what I did wrong?

If you are burning discs to CD, I do not think that you need to format the disc first (the burning program should do that).

Some CD players, especially older and/or cheaper ones may have trouble reading regular blank CDs. The test for this is that in this case the disc will play on your computer but not on your car's CD player (for your purposes). Sometimes simply switching to a different make of CD will do the trick. The alternative is to buy blank CD-ROMs that are labelled as "Audio CDs" or "Music CDs". These discs are usually a bit more expensive but they should meet the requirements for any CD player.

So first try burning your CD again without formatting the disc. Only if that does not work should you needs to see if you need a different disc than you have been using.

It sounds like you are burning data CDs (where the music is stored as files), rather than audio CDs. Your car stereo may not handle the former (also known loosely as MP3 CDs) so you need to burn an audio CD. In this case the 700MB limit is not relevant but the roughly 80 minute limit.

I don't know which version of Windows Media Player you are using, but the Burn tab allows you to specify whether the intention is to burn a Data CD or an Audio/Music CD.

If you are being ask to format the disk then you are not burning an audio CD.
