No sound

Hi,

I have just installed dBpowerAMP version 9, I have a problem with the program. It seems that when I ripp from a CD that the MP3 file has no sound. How do I configure this program to add the sound.

I am using Windows98 and Windows Mediaplayer as my default player. Before I installed this version of dBpowerAMP, I had sound when I converted music files. What did I do wrong, or what to I need to do to configure this version to play my files that were converted?:confused:

I, too, have no sound from ANY application on my computer. So I uninstalled DMC and then my sound came back. Then I reinstalled DMC, reinstalled the 2 wma codec files, rebooted (still had sound), then I converted a file. After I converted a file, there is no sound from ANY application on my computer. Any suggestions? Originally, I was unalble to rip from the CD so I changed the command set like you suggested to the 2000 limited and then I was able to rip from the CD.

I am running Windows XP and using Media Player on a IBM T30 Thinkpad with a builtin CD burner.

EDIT: I just uninstalled and removed both DMC and the WMA codec and I still have no sound. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

Check to make sure your sound is not Muted...... I have found this to be my problem and not the dBpowerAMP programs...... This is a big OOOOOOPSE for me. :o

I checked the mute. That wasn't the problem. I'm going to sort of repost my request and try to explain exactly what happened. I've spent some time searching and reading through the forum and I want to be as clear as possible as to the steps I have taken. Also, Spoon is awesome!

I installed dMC about a month ago, but never used it until yesterday.

Yesterday during the day I was in a (boring) meeting and I had my laptop volume on mute for obvious reasons. That is when I right clicked on a mp3 file and converted to wav. Everything seemed cool. When I got home that night, I took the mute off my volume but then noticed that I had no sound anywhere. No windows logon sound, no beeps in applicatons, no sound from the CD player, nothing.

In the meantime, I also installed the WMA codec. I also saw that when I when to went to the CD Input program it was freezing when ever I opened and not displaying the files on the CD. I saw on the support page where Spoon suggested to change the CD configuration to 2000 Limited. After doing that, it worked and I was able to rip directly from the CD. But still, no sound.

Then I uninstalled the program. As soon as the uninstall completed the windows screen popped up AND A BEEP SOUND saying that the uninstall was complete. FROM THAT POINT ON I HAD SOUND EVERYWHERE -- Media Player, CD player, logon and logoff sounds, etc.

Not long after I decided to re-installed dMC. I did that and I still had sound. I immediately converted a mp3 to WMA and right after that I had no sound again. Except this time afer I reinstalled I didn't sound again. Since then I have tried to reinstall and uninstall several times, not to mention rebooting many times, to no avail.

So that's my story. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm using Windows XP (all updates have been installed) and Media Player 9. I installed the WMA codec (both download files), in addition to dMC.

I have sound!

I uninstalled my sound card driver and then downloaded a driver from IBM's website and reinstalled it. I think it was the same driver, but that seemed to do the trick.

I have since re-installed dMC and the WMA codec and everything seems to be working.

I have no idea what happened.

It really shouldn't be dMC as it does not touch the sound in anyway, it does not use any part of a sound card (apart from Aux Input for recording).
