Is there a way to normalize WAV files?

I'm wondering if Batch Converter can take a bunch of WAV files and normalize the volume of them without any kind of compression. Meaning the outputted files would also be WAV but at an adjusted volume.

Obviously since the outputted WAV files contain no tags, ReplayGain wouldn't be an option and the actual audio would be altered.

Two questions:

Is it possible to do this?

If so, can it be done without clipping?

1) Yes, via the Volume Normalize DSP effect. Just choose WAV as your codec and leave the rest as source.
2) Yes, but it requires trial and error, or using the "ReplayGain" option in the Volume Normalize DSP effect, which determines the ReplayGain value and then alters the file.

How would that take place since WAV files aren't capable of containing tags? Isn't ReplayGain inserted into the file as a tag?

When using the Volume Normalize DSP effect in the ReplayGain mode, it calculates the gain value and then actually alters the file based on that value.

Trial and error to figure out the maximum amplification value you can choose without clipping the file.

If you convert to Floating Point with Bit depth, apply replaygain, or such, then do the volume normalize Peak to Peak, it will scale it back down to re-clipping (without loss as its floating point), then use Bit Depth DSP again to put as 16 bit.

Use the Bit Depth DSP effect to make the file 32-bit.
Then use the DSP effect Volume Normalize in ReplayGain mode, then another conversion, but Volume Normalize in "Peak to Peak" mode, then Bit-Depth back down to 16-bit.

You mean temporarily make it a Hi-Rez file at 24/96?

Then use the DSP effect Volume Normalize in ReplayGain mode, then another conversion, but Volume Normalize in "Peak to Peak" mode, then Bit-Depth back down to 16-bit.

And that will normalize all the WAV files in a particular folder while avoiding clipping at the same time. Right?

No keep the frequency the same, and not 24 bit but 32bit Float which allows the track to go above clipping (it is floating point).
