ripper > flac > mp3 = not gapless ?

I'm in the process of converting a dozen albums worth of flac files to mp3, that were previously ripped to flac from cd with 13.2 ripper.
Looking at the dbpa explorer pop up, these mp3 are not gapless.
Why not?

Your force ISO option means that lame is not writing the lame header, this contains gapless information.
