    ALAC to FLAC convertion

    Hi,

There is Comment field in ALAC files.
When ALAC is converted to FLAC, then the content of the Comment field is lost.

Is this dMC issue or set-up?

What program is showing the Comment as "missing"? If you right-click on the file and go to "Edit Tag", does it show the comment there on the FLAC file? Also, does Edit Tag show the comment on the ALAC file?

      Re: ALAC to FLAC convertion

      Hi,

When I use Edit ID-Tag from dbPoweramp, then I can see the Comment both in the original ALAC, and in the converted FLAC file.

However, when I use Mp3tag, then I can see the Comment only in the original ALAC, but in the converted FLAC file it disapeared.
Also media library software like JRiver MC13, doesn't show anymore Comment in the converted FLAC file.

In FLAC the standard is to save the 'Comment' tag as 'Description' I wish programs such as mp3tag would follow this standard.

          Re: ALAC to FLAC convertion

But even you show it as Comment for both ALAC and FLAC in the Edit ID tag, not Description for FLAC?

What is then the Comment field in the FLAC standart?
mp3tag and Jriver MC13 show Comment field in FLAC and allow to edit?

The problem is that now all Comments (I put in there disk numbers like "SACD=SAAL 73236") inserted by iTunes, after converting to FLAC with dMC is not anymore visible in Media Center 13 SW.

You could solve this problem (I had the same problem while converting from ape to flac) by going to dbpoweramp configuration, codecs, advanced and change Vorbis comment Mapping #3 to Leave as comment.
