help, trying to convert .wma to anything itunes will recognize

ok here goes, wife brings home my flash drive with some cd's she ripped to her work computer. 2 out of the 3 work. however the one that doesnt work with itunes is in .wma format.....but here is the error message

Now im not a complete idiot, but why would the codec ".wma" not be installed?

honestly i dont know, i figured when the download and install it would all automatically load it.

The wma codec is not installed automatically.

BTW the latest iTunes can read wma files but they are converted to apple's format.

Could they be protected wma? will they play in Windows Media Player on your PC?

Unless you remember to turn off one of its settings Windows Media Player by default creates protected files. Which may be why they won't convert.
