    Newbie question

I just downloaded the dbpoweramp to rip my CDs.

    So far so good.

Just would like to inquire the following:

    1. Why does the ripping sometime go for more than one ripping "Pass 1 ripping".

    2. After ripping, it goes into "Encoding:" and then "Accurate" mode

    3. On instances that it does not get into "Accurate" mode, it indicates "Secure", Ultra Secure (several times) or worse "Error"

    Is this the normal process?

And if it goes into "Error", is there anything else I can do to "revive" the particular track so that it can be included in the final rip?

Is there a thread that show the different terminology or terms?

Im really sorry for the questions. I hope someone can help me.

    Much obliged. Thanks, thanks

    Re: Newbie question

    1. if the disc is not in accuraterip.

Yes it is normal, if hte disc is not in accuraterip then it cannot be shown as accuraterip verified, so would be secure. Error means that the disc is so badly damaged that the drive is refusing to read a section.

      spoon,

thank you for answering my post.

what are the advantages of accuraterip? can i not go thru this process. im from the philippines, and most of our local music are not found in the net.

also, if the cd is damaged, how come when i rip it directly to itunes, itunes can read it?

      again, thanks.

        To disable AccurateRip:
Click the Options button, uncheck "Query Ripping Results with AccurateRip".

          Lt. Data,

When I do this, will the quality of my rip lessen? Thanks

Technically, no, but they might take longer. This is because normally the CD Ripper does one pass (rip), then compares the result to what is in AccurateRip. Since that is disabled, it then does the maximum rip setting you have (if enabled, Secure and UltraSecure rips).

this is because itunes doesn't use a secure process. It will rip things that in the end have errors (a pop, etc.) without telling you. This is the advantage of dbpoweramp. Keep in mind that I've had some tracks rip with "error" but yet when I listen to them, I can't detect any problems with the audio.

Have a read of www.accuraterip.com this explains what iTunes and WMP are like.

                  Re: Newbie question

                  guys,

                  thank you for your inputs.

anyway, now that i know the value of accuraterip, is there still a chance for me to save tracks that have errors? is there a remedy to my CDs?

is there a way i can salvage the songs? in some of my CDs, all tracks are okay except for one or two.

                  again, thanks.
