AAC Encoding Problem - No Option Available (Requires Nero??)

I want to recode a whole bunch of my MP3s into AAC for my GF so she can listen to them on her Nintendo DSi.

So i buy the reference DBPA, install all the plugins, and the only options i get to encode are: AAC (Advanced Audio Compression), Apple Lossless, and m4a Nero (AAC).

When i use the Apple Lossless format the tags seem to be stripped from the files so thats pretty useless, and i also want smaller files so lossless is not appropriate either.

The only one which will work is the Apple Lossless as the others are both reporting i need to install (i.e purchase) the Nero encoder. There is no mention of the nero encoder and all on the DBPA AAC page which is why i assume i dont need it.

Can anyone tell me where (if) i am going wrong?

The Nero encoder is free if you follow the link in the help file.

Aha - therein lies the problem. I am using Vista on this machine and the help file doesnt pop up.

Can anyone help me open help files in Vista?

Alternatively, can someone just post the link?

      Thanks.

The help file is only a .html file, Internet Explorer should open it.

Or go to the m4a help file in the "Help" folder in the dBpoweramp Music Converter folder in the start menu. Or, since it is vista, if you are using the Start Menu search, just type "m4a" and pick "m4a Codec Help".
