Error with flac to Apple Lossless conversion

When trying to convert certain flac files to Apple Lossless I get the following error:
Error Apple Lossless accepts only 16 bit, mono or stereo. [dEencoder::Begin Conversion]

Can anyone offer any help?

Your FLAC files must be 24 bit?

Use the "Bit Depth" DSP effect to give the converter 16-bit files.

I tried using the "Bit Depth" DSP to convert to 16 bit and got the following error:
Encountered "Flac_Stream_Decoder_Read Frame" in Flac File.

Yes, they will play fine in Winamp and Windows Media Player. Also, I used Easy Cd-DA Extractor to write them to an audio cd and it plays with no problems.

This suggests the flac file is corrupted, the other programs are probabbly ignoring that error, in dBpoweramp Configuration >> Codecs Advanced, you can set FLAC to ignore errors.

The quickest way to play 24 bit flacs on your itunes is to convert first to wav and then to apple lossless. This converts the original flac to 16 bit though.
