    I also noticed this bug, all my music is under x:\.music folder, when converting to original location, the exact same directory structure is created, but without the period in the source path.

      A folder cannot be named as '.38 Special' try creating one yourself in Windows Explorer, it will not allow it (it is possible to create such, but might break various parts of other programs;

            Yah that didn't work.

            I'll just name the artist folder to 38 special. Problem solved.

              windows normally silently drops attempts of putting a period at the begin or end of folder name.

              mediamonkey will in fact create a .38 Special folder with the leading period, but you can't in most programs.

              trailing periods are always dropped tho, ie r.e.m., run-d.m.c., n.w.a.

                In fact, filenames starting with a dot are fully correct and valid in any modern file system and I see no reason not to support it. This is simply an irritating bug which did not exist in earlier versions (<10). :thumbdown

                  If Windows Explorer will not allow the creation of .123 then there is something that Microsoft are actively doing to detect and stop it.

                    Ohh, no...
                    Even those stupid command-line utils, like built-in mkdir supports this!
                    You can create this in any file-open dialog by clicking the create folder icon (go to Microsoft Word, click on open or save doc, and try it!).
                    You can create this with total commander, far manager, and countless other tool.
                    This IS supported. I really do not see, why this is so painful to fix....

                      Not in Vista with the latest Word 2008, it is not possible to create .123

                      mkdir does support it though.
