    Track titles when converting

Is there a way to keep the track titles the same other than renaming them all manually?. ie when I convert each track gets changed to, ie my/computer/music/track1, etc, etc. I'm sure this has been addresed somewhere on the forum but I couldn't find it.

Are you referring to filenames or tags?

sorry but I'm not sure i know the difference. After I convert I put them on itunes.

If they were MP3 , I would just transfer right onto itunes and it would keep the title name, but if it's flac and then I convert to M4a, it changes the name to a file.

You seem to be implying that when you convert your flac files to m4a they lose the tag information.

Do your original flac files have populated tags? What do you see if you right-click on both the original flac file and the 'converted' m4a file and select "edit tag"? Are the appropriate tag values filled in both files?

I believe they are (it also says powerpak required for ID tag editing) I think the problem occurs when dropping them on itunes

iTunes uses the tag information within the mp3 files, if there isn't any you will just get track 01 etc.

I suspect that the flac files do not contain any tag information.

Example: A file had ID tag "03- summertime blues". When dragged onto itunes
it changed the name to C:\documents and settings\owner, etc , etc

After dragging a file into iTunes what does it display if you right-click on it and select Get Info? Are the fields on the Info Tab filled?

If not you'll have to either use the Tag From Filename utility codec to populate the id tags or manually input the details in iTunes or some other tag editor.

Tagscanner is free and available from http://www.xdlab.ru/en/index.htm you can also use it to edit/check the tags in your flac files.
