HDCD Flac Files to Apple Lossless?

    Hi All,

I ran a batch convert on my flac files and all the flacs that were originally ripped with the HDCD DSP filter (because they are HDCD CDs), are not convering to Apple Lossless. I'm getting the error:

    Error converting to Apple Lossless, 'D:\Music\Beck\Mutations\Beck - Mutations - 02 - Nobody's Fault but My Own.flac' to 'D:\Apple Lossless\Beck\Mutations\02 Nobody's Fault but My Own.m4a'
Error Apple Lossless accepts only 16 bit, mono or stereo. [clEncoder::BeginConversion]

Any idea how to convert these 20-bit HDCD flacs to Apple Lossless (16bit)?

    Thanks,

OK, So I went FLAC(HDCD 20bit) to WAV 16-bit, then to ALAC (Apple Lossless). Not ideal but I'm betting its close to the original w/o digging the CDs out of the garage!

Any other ideas from anyone that would yield better results?

    Thanks,

Going back tgo 16 bit would loose the HDCD. You can use a DSP effect 'Bit Depth' to do it without the wav conversion.
