ensuring gapless playback from music converter-ripped tunes

    Greetings.
I am using the music converter program to convert lossless, etree downloaded files into mp3 files. These are bootleg live music shows without gaps between songs. When I load these mp3-converted shows into iTunes for use in my ipod, my ipod does not always recognize these songs as gapless which ruins the flow between songs. Question is, is there a way to designate a group of files as gapless ones in the Music Converter program to hopefully provide some functional cues for iTunes-ipod to read those files properly?
I hope I have been clear enough.
    Thank you

iTunse should automatically detect the gaps on all Lame encoded mp3 files.

Is there a way to check/verify metadata on those lame-encoded mp3 files to ensure gapless playback in iTunes?

It is not in the metadata, but rather the special Lame mp3 header, which lame always writes.
