Trying to decode a WMA file

I downloaded and installed dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC-r9.exe) on 1/24/03. I then downloaded the codec (dBpowerAMP-codec-wmav9.exe) and installed it.

When i go into Windows (98) Explorer and right click on a .wma file the dialog box that comes up does not have the convert option. Works just fine with a .mp3 file.

I then went to the dMC Configuration screen as you suggest in your FAQ's. Windows Media Audio V9 Release 1.3a shows up under Installed Compression Codec (Write) but does not show up under Installed Input Codecs (Read). Your symbols on your codec central download page indicate that with this codec you should be able to both encode to .wma format and decode from .wma format to some other.

I uninstalled everything and ran the installation programs again. Same results.

    What did I do wrong?

On the WMA v9 install page you need to install 2 files, the big one and smaller one, install the smaller one to the same location as dMC.

Mr. Spoon - When I went to the Codec Central page and clicked the "download" after the Windows Media Audio it downloaded the file dMC-r9.exe which I then ran to install the codec. What else do I need to download to install the other file you are talking about?

        Thanks

Never mind - I found the place to download the other file - thanks.
(It should be noted down Codec Central page that you have another file to download after you do the first download)
