After converting 27000 tracks from FLAC to ALAC (16/44) these are my experiences:
dBpoweramp and ALAC encoder are very stable (more than 70 hours in one go) and produced error free ALAC file.
Afterwards I wanted to change the "Genre" for some tracks (Genre=Rock). I used ID Tag Update to do this (newest version). Afterwards these files (a few hundred) were not playable anymore in iTunes. iTunes jumps very quickly from one song to the next. I had to do a second conversion from FLAC to ALAC for these and edited the tags afterwards in iTunes.
There is a problem with [ID Tag Update] when applied to ALAC files.
