    mp3PRO

I need to convert my collection from mp3PRO.
I have installed only dBpoweramp Batch Converter.
I understand I must install Winamp (because the plug in will not install unless Winamp is installed) then the plugin for mp3PRO then put the driver into dBpoweramp.
Does anybody have detailed instructions to do all this?
Is there a way to verify that dBpoweramp is actually converting mp3PRO?
    Cheers,
    Keith

    Re: mp3PRO

    Keith-
First, please note that this can be done ONLY using version 11.5 OR EARLIER of dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC). You CANNOT do this with version r12 or later. You should be able to confirm your version by accessing your dMC Configuration.

If you have version r11.5 or earlier installed, then dowload and install the mp3PRO decoder codec from Legacy Codec Central and make sure you install it in the appropriate folder along with dMC. You will then find and should follow these instructions (which you will get when you install this codec):

This codec for dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC) or dBpowerAMP Audio Player lets you decode mp3PRO music files, as well as older mp3 files. mp3PRO is described as a format built on the existing MP3 format but with better compression - near-CD quality sound at only 64Kbps! A mp3PRO audio file can be played in any ordinary Mp3 player, however to hear the extra quality a mp3PRO audio player should be used (that is what this is).

Important: Follow these instructions to get mp3PRO to function:

    * Frstly install the mp3pro WINAMP Plugin you can get it from www.mp3pro.com
    * Next Extract mp3PRO decoder from Winamp and install in dBpowerAMP -

    1) Browse to the Winamp Plugins Folder (normally C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins),
    2) Find the Input plug-in required, it will be called in_mp3PRO.dll,
    3) Copy this file to C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP\Multiplayer\input\in_m p3PRO\
    4) DELETE the existing dBpowerAMP mp3 decoder file C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP\Multiplayer\input\mp3. dll
    5) Restart dBpowerAMP and the new file type can be played,

    Notes:

*** When using the mp3PRO Codec - CROSSFADE has to be switched off (Winamp plugins are not multistream compatible) ***

If dMC or dAP are updated the file mp3.dll has to be deleted once more
Do NOT try this with ANY version of dMC from r12 on as these codecs are not compatible with newer versions of dMC and installing Legacy codecs into later versions of dMC will cause the program to behave erratically (as will attempting to install the newer codecs into dMC r11.5 or earlier, dAP, Sveta, and/or CDWriter r2 or earlier).

    Hope this helps.

    Best wishes,
    Bill

      Thank you
I down loaded AVSAudioConverter.exe for ver 11.5, does this sound right? The version 11.5 is hard to find.
      Cheers,
      Keith

        There's a download link for r11.5 here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/legacy-compatibility.htm

          Re: mp3PRO

          Thank You
It appears to work but very slow compared to ver 13.
The ID tag does not carry over to the new file. Is there a solution to get the tag to transfer?
Is there any way to verify that mp3PRO is actually being converted and not just mp3?
          Cheers,
          Keith
