Music converter application has stopped working

I am trying to convert a large number (2000) of shn files to flac using the batch converter. During the examine source and overwrite check & before the conversions start I get this error:

"Music converter application has stopped working"
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.

I am using Vista business 32 bit. Files are on external hard drive connected via firewire.

Initially I was using 13.1 trial version. I uninstalled this version and went with R13 reference registered version. Each time I get the same errors when I try to convert the whole drive. It seems to work with smaller numbers of files.

Is there a limit of files that it can do at one time?

It started a smaller conversion and appeared to be running. I got the message "dbpoweramp CoreCoverter has stopped working" although it is still working.

One of your files crashes the converter, but Music Converter should carry on given time.

Unfortunately when I get the first message, the process stops alltogether.
With the second message, the process does continue.

Try to isolate the files which are causing the crash.
